The 109 letters that Ms. Vu Thi Lui is keeping are fragments of memories left over from the years of bombs and storms. Those letters followed the march, becoming historical witnesses of a heroic generation, ready to sacrifice everything to protect the Fatherland.

During the days when the whole country was looking forward to celebrating the 49th anniversary of the liberation of the South and unification of the country, Ms. Vu Thi Lui (often called Luu Lien, 79 years old, residing in Ha Cau ward, Ha Dong district, Hanoi) had It's a very special feeling when remembering the memories of the fire flower era, especially the romantic love story but also a lot of loss and pain with martyr Tran Minh Tien.

Entering her private house, the first thing she did was lead us to the family's altar room to light incense for a special person. That room has a small altar, every day Mrs. Lien prepares 3 cups of tea, 3 cups of coffee and 3 cigarettes and burns incense to commemorate her ex-lover, martyr Tran Minh Tien. These are all things that martyr Tien loved to use when he was alive.

Before marrying her current husband, Mr. Nguyen Doan Hung (80 years old), Mrs. Lien and martyr Tien had a beautiful romantic love story, overcoming the smoke and fire of war. Their love has nurtured separate dreams of happiness, secrets and strong trust.
